In the first quarter of this year, the main algae-based products exported were dried algae (87.7 per cent), carrageenan (6.7 per cent) and agar (2.9 per cent).

Overall, sales of dried seaweed decreased by 12.9 per cent over the same period last year.

According to the detail in the IFOP bulletin, the income generated in the period from January to  April of 2010 placed the export of dried seaweed in the first place with a 39.9 per cent share.
